The diffuse reflectance grayscale board is made from specially engineered optical materials with excellent diffuse reflectance properties. Its surface features a carefully designed sequence of gray levels ranging from bright white to deep black, forming a continuous grayscale gradient. Each step is precisely manufactured and rigorously calibrated to ensure reliable reflectance standards for optical measurement applications.
Each gray level represents a specific reflectance value, which is the key to the grayscale board’s function in optical measurement. For instance, in photometric testing, the brightest white area may have over 90% reflectance, while the darkest black area can be below 5%.
When evaluating light source intensity, illumination uniformity, or camera sensitivity, the light or sensor is directed toward various gray levels, and by analyzing the reflected light intensity differences, key performance parameters of the optical or imaging system can be determined.
The diffuse reflectance grayscale board is also widely used for LiDAR calibration, including distance accuracy verification and angular alignment testing. The different reflectance regions simulate real-world surfaces and targets, providing a stable reference for LiDAR system development, testing, and performance validation to ensure measurement precision and operational reliability.
