For some optical systems conventional assembly methods are not ideal or even possible, for example in conventional centre deviation measurement, lens rotation is a time-consuming process which will have an impact on high volume measurement requirements. Or some lenses are sensitive to orientation angles etc., for example some lenses cannot be placed in the vertical direction or measured during rotation.
To meet these needs, TRIOPTICS has developed a new measurement method to test lens centre deviation without rotation, the OptiCentric® Linear.
Measuring principle:
OptiCentric® Linear is based on reflective measurement and does not require a rotating system, which was previously the standard conventional measurement method. Instead, it uses the focal point trajectory formed by the self-collimator as it moves along the linear guide as the reference axis. In order to obtain a measurement accuracy of up to 1 μm, the remaining non-linear moving parts need to be compensated for by calibration, so that a rotating lens is not required. The actual measurement process is carried out by testing the relative position of the centre of curvature and the focal point by means of a light pipe.
