With the rapid development of digital cameras and photographic technology, the demand for image quality and resolution is increasing, and ColorSpace provides ISO 12233-compliant test charts: 72-cycle and 144-cycle Siemens star patterns for evaluating the resolution and contrast performance of a camera system in different orientations, and test functions such as aberration and colour reproduction to let you understand the performance of a camera in all directions.
In addition, tests for distortion and colour reproduction are also included, giving you a multi-dimensional view of the camera's performance.
The Siemens star map is a pattern of multiple radiating wedge-shaped stripes that extend from the centre outwards and are modulated at different spatial frequencies.
By photographing this pattern and analysing the visibility and sharpness of the stripes in the image, the camera's resolution performance in different directions can be assessed; different numbers of cycles can be used to simulate and evaluate the detail and contrast performance at different frequencies.
>>> The main differences between the 72-cycle and 144-cycle Siemens charts are their spatial frequency distribution and detail complexity:
Selecting the number of cycles for Siemens star charts requires a combination of factors such as camera resolution, test purpose, test conditions, standards and requirements.① The 72-cycle Siemens star map has a smaller number of stripes and therefore each stripe is relatively wide.
This makes it more suitable for evaluating lower resolution camera systems or for testing camera performance at coarser levels of detail.
② The 144-cycle Siemens star map has a greater number of stripes, each of which is relatively narrow. This makes it more accurate for evaluating the performance of higher resolution camera systems and for testing camera performance at finer levels of detail.
Product Characteristics:
- Target allows multiple samples of MTF measurements to be taken from any point within the circumference of the circle.
- Resolution measurements can be made with Imatest’s Star Chart module
- Less sensitive to some image processing than Edge-SFR analysis
- Resistant to noise which can improve some measurement repeatability
- Includes low-contrast vertical + horizontal slanted edges for comparison
- Less sensitive to changes in position than the hyperbolic wedge
- Enables resolution measurements at all angles including vertical, horizontal, sagittal and tangential
- Includes registration mark patterns for automatic detection
