Introduction of Automotive industry Camera Test Solutions
With the increasing number of automobile camera system applications such as Camera Monitor Systems, Advanced Driver Assist Systems and Mirror Replacements, the automotive industry has to test and meet a wide variety of image quality standards. Factors to test include dynamic range, long range focus, contrast resolution, flicker, flare, and sharpness. Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS)
ADAS systems typically contain forward facing camera systems that rapidly analyze oncoming and nearby objects. The lenses on these cameras focus at along-rangeto maximize the sensitivity of the system. Unfortunately, this complicates the testing process generally because of the limitations in lab size. Specialized equipment is therefore required to test the image quality at the needed distances. Key image quality factors to be tested include:
Rearview and Surround-View Camera Systems
The Rear View and the Surround-Viewof the carcamera typically have significant fish-eye distortion. Some cameras have a greater field of view (FOV) and angel. A panoramic camera system based on the technology which includes a plurality of cameras of front view, side view and rear view. This requires the application of a distortion correction algorithm, and the combination of multiple images, in order to naturally display the image of the surrounding of the vehicle. The pre-distortion SFR-plus test chart is suitable for distortion and sharpness testing of wide-angle lenses. For ultra-wide-angle cameras, dedicated SFR-reg test charts and ultra-wide-angle sharpness analysis camera devices can also be analyze for analytical testing.

Mirror Replacement/Camera Monitor Systems (CMS)
Camera Monitor Systems are challenging to test because
several factors in the multi-camera, multi-step process need to be set up
correctly. Though the majority of the image quality factors are important,
sharpness, contrast resolution, and color accuracy are of the highest importance.

This source has an illumination of more than 100,000 lux and
is used to test wide dynamic range testing of greater light applications with
the use of 120dB or 150dB dynamic range test chart.

Dynamic Range Test Charts
These
targets have 36 low-noise density patches and density ranges exceeding 50dB,
100dB and 150dB. The three options fulfill needs for Low, Wide, and Ultra-High
Dynamic Range systems.

Spherical
light sources can be used to test the brightness and uniformity of super
